Infrastructure
A distribution and garment processing firm wanted to partner with
a company to provide hardware, software and IT support services
for their fledgling company. Total IT Solutions worked closely with
the directors, management, administration and warehouse personal
of this firm to attain an understanding of the multitude of requirements
to achieve the company’s business goals. Once attained the
requirements were used to devise and implement an IT Role Out Plan
to achieve the companies’ mission.
Some of the key features involved were:
(i) The implementation of Cat5e cabling structure, network switches
and 802.11g wireless access points providing the infrastructure
required to allow for the radio frequency barcode scanners to interface
directly with the WMS thus providing live data inc validation. This
current infrastructure was developed with a view to allow for the
adoption of RFID technology, when required.
(ii) The development of a Warehouse Management Solution (WMS)- A
modular system was encompassing scheduling, garment tracking, employee
performance analysis, warehouse racking optimisation and invoicing.
Barcode scanners. This system has reduced company costs and enhanced
efficiency by 32% per annum.
